What Is The Meaning Or Definition Of Promiscuous Or Promiscuity: Promiscuous means a person is characterized by multiple brief sexual relationships, at the same time, or one after the other in a relatively short period of time. It is the practice of engaging in frequent and short sexual activities with multiple partners or being indiscriminate in the selection of sexual partners, with little or no standards while choosing someone for a sexual encounter. Casual dating leads to promiscuity which is an age-old phenomenon of having a lot of sex with various partners without committing to any one of them or being exclusive with any one partner. It promotes the idea of being more open while picking sexual partners, with little or no reservations. The term promiscuous itself is often used in a derogatory manner as sexual activities were, and still are, for the most part, traditionally known to be more widely accepted only in exclusive relationships such as a marriage or a committed long term relationship. An excellent example of promiscuous behavior is friends-with-benefits and one-night-stand kind of sexual relationships, both of which facilitate the idea of having multiple sexual partners without any commitments. Such promiscuous behaviors have always existed since the beginning of civilization, this phenomenon goes back to centuries. The only difference is that now more and more people are engaging openly in such types of casual sex or informal sexual relationships than ever before. A promiscuous person is often taken as someone who is easy to get in bed as that person is more likely to be more open to sleeping with virtually anyone without giving much thought to it. Such a person is usually sexually active with multiple people at the same time, making sex a very casual affair. A promiscuous woman is often looked down upon by society in a demeaning way, while a promiscuous man faces almost no consequences in an adverse way. Unfortunately, such differences between the kind of sexual behaviors that are normally acceptable for a man and a woman have always existed and they still exist despite the modernization of society.
