Cissexism Cissexist Meaning Definition
“Cissexism” is also sometimes referred to as “Cis-Sexism” with a hyphen, or “Cis Sexism” with a space, as some other forms
What Is The Meaning Or Definition Of Cissexism / Cissexist: The term “cissexism” is derived from the word “cis,” which means "the same as," or "on the same side of" and “sexism,” which means “sexually offensive,” hence, “cis-sexism” literally means “preferential or superior treatment to cisgender people, making non-cisgender invalid.” The term “cissexism” is used to describe the attitude or behavior that grants preferential or superior treatment to cisgender people, reinforcing the idea that being cisgender is somehow better or more right or more normal than being transgender, and thereby making other genders illegitimate or invisible. Cissexism is a system of oppression that says there are only two genders, which are considered normal, and that everyone's gender must align with their sex at birth. Cissexism is the prevalent system of discrimination and rejection established on the belief that there are, and should be, only two genders, and that one’s gender, or at least most aspects of it, are automatically linked to assigned sex. This system oppresses people whose gender expression or gender identity falls outside of cisnormativity. Hence, cisgender people are considered to be the “dominant group,” and trans-gender non-conforming people are considered to be the “oppressed group.”
